Hi, I'm Maya, an Italian living in Krabi, Thailand. I guess that you're here to figure out what this blog is about, and who is the person behind it. Well, here I am. I'm a traveller at hearth, have been since I can remember. And even though I'd fill a backpack and leave for any destination in the world in a flinch second, should you give me a ticket and ask me to go, my deepest love goes to Asia, a continent I've been fascinating with since I was a kid, reading about Alessandro Magno adventures and Rudyard Kipling's "Kim" and watching "The Little Princess", completely astonished by the monkey and the Indian servant who came to the rescue of the pale British girl. So, this blog is about travelling the world, but it focuses mainly on the South East Asia, first because I love it, and second because it's where I live now.
Before moving to Thailand, at the end of 2018, I lived in one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world, Shanghai, for a little less than 6 years. China shaped the woman I am now in so many ways, I had the best and worst time of my life there and I will always have a bond with the city "above the sea" (which is the meaning of the name Shanghai). Before China, I lived in Sydney, Australia, for about a year. What a wild place, Australia is! And I really enjoyed the beach life I lived at the time (my house being in Maroubra, a few minutes from the same beach). However, despite making a few strong friendships and being the happy au pair of a handsome and adorable curly haired boy named Romain, I never fell for Australia as hard as I fell for Asia. And that's why I moved on.
Now Krabi, in the South of Thailand, is my home. The fun thing is that the beach house where I live with my two wild and bossy cats happens to be only a few hundred meters away from the hotel where I was staying during a family holiday in 1997, when I declared to my parents that one day I would be living in Thailand. Due to the Covid pandemic, I won't be travelling much in the near future, but you can expect blogs about my everyday life in Thailand and about past trips in the country and nearby countries. Comment whenever you feel like it, I like to know new people and hear their stories. Just keep in mind that English is not my native language, and please forgive my mistakes.
